<h2>On Site Search Engine Optimization &#8211; Using Keywords</h2>
<p>There are several places you&#8217;ll utilize keywords. Keywords play an important role in indexing with the SEOs.</p>
<h3>Domain Names and Keywords</h3>

If you haven&#8217;t chosen your domain name yet, try to come up with one that incorporates your main keywords for your site concept. </p>
<p><b>Example:</b> My keywords are dog breeding. I would look for a domain name that includes that term, the possibilities could be:</p>

<li>dogbreedinginformation.com</li>
<li>bestofdogbreeding.com</li>
<li>dogbreedingguru.com</li>
<li>dogbreedingforbeginners.com</li>
</ul>
<p>Okay you get the idea. This is helpful in rankings with the SEOs. </p>
<p>If you&#8217;ve chosen a domain name already that doesn&#8217;t contain your keywords, I suggest checking to see if you can get one with your keywords first. </p>
<p>Domain names are really very inexpensive, especially at <a href="Http://www.namecheap.com?aff=13403" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">NameCheap.com</a>. </p>
<p>However if you don&#8217;t want to purchase another domain name, you can optimize your pages as you build them.</p>
<h3>Page Title and Meta Tags</h3>
<p>Once you have your domain name and you&#8217;re ready to start adding pages to your website you&#8217;ll want to optimize each page to the fullest.</p>
<p>The &#8220;Page Title&#8221; is the first thing that people will see when they search for something at Google or one of the other SEOs. If you go to Google and type in dog breeding in the search box, look at the page that comes up.</p>
<p>The first three titles I see are: Breeding Your Dog; Dog breeding &#8211; Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia; Dog Heat Cycle and Breeding &#8211; LoveToKnow Dogs.</p>
<p>Utilize the page title to really describe your website and be sure to include your main keywords in it. Examples: Dog Breeding Guide, Dog Breeding For Beginners, etc.</p>
<p><b>Meta Tags:</b> These are the tags that contain your keywords and a description of your site. The SEOs use this info for indexing your pages.</p>
<p>The description is the second thing you&#8217;ll see when you do a search for keywords. In the example above, &#8220;Breeding Your Dog&#8221;, the description is:</p>
<p><i>A dog in a breeding program must be one whose genetic history you or its breeder is intimately familiar with. Such a dog must represent the best efforts of &#8230;</i></p>
<p>Descriptions should be between 150 and 250 words and contain your main keyword and if you have additional keywords, you can also add one or two of them in. </p>
<p>Make your description draw attention, when someone reads it you want them to click on it and go to your website. Consider what your target audience is looking for when you write this.</p>
<h3>Headline Tags and Alt Tags</h3>
<p><b>Headline Tags</b> are also important to use. They define the importance of that headline. Headline tags range from H1 to H6, H1 being the most important and the H6 being the least important.</p>
<p>Your main headline on your page should be wrapped in a H1 tag, with your first sub-headline being wrapped in a H2 tag. Both of these should contain your main keywords.</p>
<p><b>Alt Tags:</b> The most common items using alt tags are images or videos. The alt (short for alternative) tag allows you to describe what the image is about. The alt tag provides information to the SEOs as well as your visitors.</p>
<p>As an example, you create a specific page about German Shepherd Dog Breeding and you place an image of a German Shepherd on that page. The alt tag allows you to utilize your keywords in the description and in this case you would have your German Shepherd Keyword and your main concept keyword of dog breeding.</p>
<h3>Keywords and Content</h3>
<p>You always want to use your main keywords in the first sentence if possible, if not make sure to use it in the first paragraph. Also use it in the last paragraph of your page.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;ve chosen other keywords as well for this page, you can utilize those as well throughout your content. Also use your main keywords sprinkled in a couple of times on your page.</p>
<p>Each page that you create will have its own specific set of <a href="http://neteffectspro.com/search-engine-optimized-keywords.html">keywords or keyword phrases</a> to use. </p>
<p>Content is very important. The quality is more important than the quantity of pages. <b>Keep it simple, write each page for your &#8220;visitor&#8221; first!</b></p>

<h3>Choosing Search Engine Optimized Keywords</h3>
<p>This is one of the tasks that will take you the most time until you&#8217;ve done it a few times.</p>
<p>First you&#8217;ll search for keywords related to your site topic. There are several tools you can use for this purpose.</p>
<p>Two free tools are the Google AdWords Keyword Tool and Free Wordtracker. Besides keyword research both of these programs offer additional search functions.</p>
<p>Once you search (or brainstorm) keywords you&#8217;ll receive a list of words related to the term you searched. Then you&#8217;ll start an analysis and the things you will look for are:</p>
<ul>
<li>The amount of traffic it gets daily/monthly</li>
<li>Competition for that term</li>
</ul>
<p>When I search for terms I always use the &#8220;Exact Match&#8221; search volume. This simply means the term I want to use was searched exactly as typed in by that number of people.</p>
<p>The number of searches can be a high number but there are also times a lower number can work, we find this out by evaluating our competition for that term.</p>
<p>Lower numbers also referred to as long-tail terms are normally easier to rank for, however if the search amount is too low, your traffic amount will be less. But they do have a purpose. </p>
<h4>Can You Win the Competition for this Term?</h4>
<p>In order to determine if you can rank well against your competition we need to analyze those sites. The higher up on the first page of a search result for your term, the more traffic you will receive.</p>
<p>When you do a search for a term you&#8217;ll see the top ten results for that term come up. These are the competing sites. </p>
<p>There are a number of things we&#8217;ll look at.</p>
<p><b>Page Rank</b> also known as PR is a number assigned by Google (only Google uses this) to determine the importance of a website page. The number doesn&#8217;t represent the website itself, it only represents the individual page.</p>
<p>You want your competitive sites be a PR 3 or less.</p>
<p>In order to know what a PR is on a website page you&#8217;ll need to install Google&#8217;s toolbar.</p>
<p>Another tool that would be wise to install is SEO Quake. It&#8217;s a free tool and it provides a lot of the information you&#8217;ll be looking for.</p>
<p><b>BackLinks</b> &#8211; The less backlinks a site has pointing to it the easier it will be to outrank that site. </p>
<p><b>Site Age</b> &#8211; Older sites are usually well established. The newer the site the better.</p>
<p><b>Keyword Usage</b> &#8211; Check to see if the site is using the keywords in headlines, descriptions, and the page title. Are the keywords in the domain name of the site?</p>
<p>When you&#8217;re searching and choosing key terms to use, another thing to consider is what each individual term will do for your site. </p>
<p>Some terms may be geared more towards your visitor &#8220;looking for information only&#8221; where other terms are &#8220;buying keywords&#8221;.</p>
<p>As you&#8217;re making your selections always think about the term in that sense. You need to provide quality information but you still want to sell that product.</p>
<p>Make the most of your search engine optimized keywords &#8211; they are very important.</p>
